The most amazing thing happened!!!

I really need to get this camera out of storage.... Until then, this post will not seem so amazing...

So on Easter, one of my husbands aunts came for the day.... She just so happens to work for a yarn mill right down the road. I had asked her in the past for ANY mill ends that the company wanted to get rid of because I can always find a use for any yarn. Sadly, they only do acrylic yarn but free yarn is FREE YARN.... Who could complain!

Anyways, before I get too side tracked... On Easter, I had asked her about the mill getting rid of any fiber that they used. They have to have some sort of fiber waste there. On Monday, she showed up with approximately 25 pounds of carded acrylic fiber. I must have looked like I had just won the lottery...

I have been staring at this for nearly 4 days now just wondering where to begin. You see, there is not a whole lot of information online or in any of my spinning books about spinning acrylic roving. Anyone has any advice on this one, let me know!

So I thought...

So I was so motivated back in November to get this fiber addiction up and running... And here we are in April with a big fat goose egg to show for all of that "motivation".

I have been steadily working on some new handspun yarns since I received a fantastic drum carder for Christmas. Seems like the opportunities are endless with this piece of machinary once you get the hang of it.

If anyone is interested (uh hum stonedknitter), I have the most amazing handknit, shibori felted scarf that was made with vintage gold yarn and weaving loom loops... Let me know. I will be working on the camera meets computer situation here soon...

The start of a new begining...

So this is the begining of a new blog. The other was left in the trash where it belongs. This blog will now focus on my dream of giving up the awful job of waitressing which is essentially begging people for money and moving on to the fiber art world.

I will be posting handmade items, generally on the unusual side, as well as handspun yarn. If anyone is interested, please contact me.
